We were so excited for Tara and David’s e-session! We’d only talked to them on the phone and via e-mail, and we were soooo ready to finally get to them them and hang out! Turns out, we have lots of things in common so there weren’t any dull moments during our evening together. We *might* have spent a lot of time talking about Harry Potter – because we both love it. There also *might* be a picture floating around of Tara and David holding wands (or sticks) that was photoshopped to look like they were actually performing spells. Hey, what can we say… we had a great time!
They also brought props! Notice the balloons match the cute little balloon tattoo on Tara’s foot! By the way, don’t they look cool here!?

Brad and Chyla are two fabulous photographers located in Nebraska. They flew down to Texas a few weeks ago for a mentorship with us. We spent a whole day with them talking about business, and then we spent a whole afternoon/evening with them shooting, teaching them how we shoot.
But… two days before their mentorship, they drove out here and had THEIR photographs taken. We took a whole session with them, but here are our favorites from the last place we went just as the sun went down. All of these photos were taken in about a 15 minute time frame! Gotta love the golden hour!
These guys know how to have a good time. Brad can make anyone laugh, but I think Chyla is his specialty. How lucky are they to go through life with someone who makes them laugh like that! Chyla – your personality shines through in these photos! Brad is a lucky man!

We’ll be sharing the photos from our mentorship session with Brad and Chyla soon, during which we got to shoot a gorgeous model. Brad and Chyla, you are a dream to photograph and such a fun couple. We have no doubt we’ve made lifelong friends with you guys and are so excited about where the future is going to take you.
What a fun time we had with Katie and Drew shooting their engagement portraits. We had been waiting and waiting to meet the famous Katie as she had sent us fabulous gifts, notes, and tons of other stuff since she booked us on the phone a while back.

Meet Haley and Chris!
Rewind to about 60 days ago. We had been gearing up and anxiously awaiting a date on our calendar: “Haley and Chris E-Session.” We’re always excited about our engagement shoots because it gives us a chance to really get to know our couples. The day of the wedding we are all super busy and we don’t have any time to just hang out. Our engagement sessions give us that opportunity. We all get to spend time together, get to know each other a little better, and share lots of laughs. Oh, and take some beautiful pictures along the way.
Anyhoo… We were particularly excited for Haley and Chris’s photo shoot because this was going to be our first time to actually meet them. Haley was referred to us by another awesome photographer, Ashley Bell of Ashley Lauren Photography in College Station. Luke talked to her on the phone and she booked us for their wedding, but we never actually got to meet her. But by the time their engagement shoot rolled around, I felt like I knew Haley already. Amazing what a Facebook friendship + a few Instagram likes and comments can do. I posted a picture of my favoritest-most-life-changing Chanel highlighting powder on Instagram one day, and Haley said, “oooooh, this looks fun. What is this?” And just like that, a friendship was born. I knew Haley was someone I could be friends with. Wahoo!
Sad news is, the day of their session was one of those overcast, foggy, dreary will-it-rain days. We probably could have shot their session and made it work, but we wanted to reschedule because the weather just was NOT fabulous enough for these guys.
We actually got to meet these two lovebirds for the first time at the A Style Collective open house a few weeks prior. Haley’s mother, Tina, is one of the two head honchos and creative geniuses that are A Style Collective, along with another family friend, Kirbi.
Fast forward to present day – a beautiful sunny late fall day with weather right out of a storybook! Score!

Ask anyone who knows US, they’ll tell you, Luke and I laugh A LOT. Deep Thoughts by Cat: I believe a couple who laughs together stays together. I don’t know if that is a official expression, because I often mess things like this up. (i.e., there they go again, putting the horse in front of the cart.) Oops.

Haley and Chris, you guys are an amazing couple! We loved spending our day with you, hearing all these stories about the way you met, the times you’ve had together, and all the little things we seemed to have in common with each other! Chris, thanks for the tip on choosing Dixie Cups instead of glass. Inside joke.
We can’t wait for their wedding! Since A Style Collective is going to be styling their big day…. I can only imagine how beautiful this is going to be!
Right before we left to head to Indiana we got to meet up with Priscilla and Chip from San Antonio! They are such a cool couple, and we can’t wait for their wedding and to get to hang out with them more
While we were talking to Priscilla and Chip during their engagement session, we found out that they met at a Dave Ramsey event, but they were both there with their jobs, not to actually listen to the lectures! Anyway, we started to ask them questions about Dave’s theory for small businesses and as soon as we were on the road to Indiana, we purchased Dave’s audiobook and listened to it the whole way. Now we have some great new ideas for 2012 on what to do with our money!

Taryn and John, this quote makes us think of you! You guys have such a great relationship, you are truly a joy to be around! The whole way home from your engagement session, Luke and I couldn’t stop visiting about how much we loved photographing you two. When I see the picture above, I think to myself, “Wow. You could NOT pose that moment.” It just happened, because you guys are so much in love, so comfortable with each other, and clearly have a very genuine connection. That’s what we LOVE to photograph!
We met up with Taryn and John on a breezy afternoon in downtown Houston. John is a hotelier at one of the famous downtown hotels, the Hilton Americas, and we spent all afternoon walking around the places nearby his job. We started at Discovery Green and ended up at a great little hole-in-the-wall restaurant just a few blocks away from the hustle and bustle. What a treat!

I love this paparazzi style moment through the bushes. While Luke was taking their picture straight on, I snuck off with my long lens and snagged these. They make me smile.
Yes… it looks like they are in the middle of a field. No, they are not. Literally in the middle of the city. Oh, and Taryn… stop it. You are gorgeous!
Taryn and John were up for ANYTHING we threw at them. We loved this colorful wall but didn’t want to just stand in front of it. They let us go crazy with our creativity and catch these cool motion-blur shots!
It was a cloudy day, but as the sun started to set we headed up to the rooftop to get some pictures of the happy soon-to-be-married duo with the city skyline behind them.

We had a ridiculously fun evening photographing our new friends Lacey and Edwin’s engagement session. Lacey and Edwin will be married this coming spring at Agave Road in Katy. Agave Road (soon-to-be called Agave Estates) is one of our favorite Houston venues and we know that Lacey and Edwin’s wedding will be a total showstopper.
We feel so blessed and lucky when we get to spend time with a couple as sweet and down to earth as Lacey and Edwin. They have one of those relationships that, even from the outside looking in, you can tell is founded on a deep trust and understanding of one another. When they first met up with us, we were chit-chatting so much that I finally realized, Whoops, we have to take their pictures too! We had so much in common.
We spent the evening with them, and on the drive home, Luke and I both couldn’t stop talking about our new friends and how much fun we had with them. Lacey and Edwin, we are so happy to be your wedding photographers and so blessed to count you both as friends!
These two have some serious style. Lacey brought out some jewelry that would make any woman envious! Turns out she is a Stella and Dot jewelry stylist, so she *knows* good jewelry.
That right there, is TRUE happiness!

In just a few months we will be celebrating with Amber and Anthony at their wedding at the fabulous Houston venue, Agave Road. We were able to spend an evening together with these two and are super excited to show you the images!
